YOU’RE SAFE IN OUR HANDS

A wood burning stove, fitted by a HETAS registered installer, combines style,
efficiency and charm to give you a characterful feature fireplace.

Suitable for homes both modern and old, a wood burning stove projects up to 80% more heat into the
room than a traditional fireplace while creating an eye-catching centre piece.

Chimney Surveys & Liner Installation

If you intend to use an existing chimney you must get it checked for soundness and blockages.

It is very common in older chimneys for the bricks dividing connecting flue passages to be breached.

If this is not rectified or a liner not installed then poisonous flue gases can pass through and come out through a fireplace in another room.

It is essential, and usually a requirement of your insurance company, that your chimney is swept regularly, at least once a year, depending on the type of fuel.

Burning wood during the winter months causes soot and deposits to build up inside the flue and chimney. If these are not swept you are more at risk of the chimney blocking and possibly leading to carbon monoxide leakage.

To complete the installation of your stove / fire, you’ll need not only a HETAS registered installer, but also a builder capable of restoring your fireplace, refurbishing any brickwork, re-plastering the chimney breast and fitting a new hearth.  With us, you’ll get a complete service, impartial advice and be able to choose your perfect fire from any chosen manufacturer.

ABOUT WOOD

Wood is a carbon-neutral fuel because the carbon released as it burns has already effectively been offset by the carbon absorbed during the lifespan of the tree – leading to a net zero carbon footprint. This makes using a wood burner to heat a room more eco-friendly than burning a non-renewable fossil fuel, such as coal or gas.

You should always burn dried (seasoned) wood, either by purchasing it dry, or purchasing green logs which need seasoning for at least a year before they can be used.

*We always advise that you use a Carbon Monoxide Detector*

“Current legislation states that if you have installed a wood burning or multi-fuel stove a carbon monoxide alarm is required”.
